If I were telepathic, and you could read my mind. - The Last Song, Nicholas Sparks.
I flipped through the pages, finally till the last chapter. Woah. I glanced up it's already 2 something in the late night. The ending of the story was terrific! And I couldn't wait to watch the movie. I had never thought that the story would have such a twist in the middle. When everything seemed to be so nice all along, till ...
He was going to die, and sooner rather than later. With that, he realized that so many things he'd spent time worrying about no longer mattered. His 401(k) plan? Won't need it. A way to make a living in his fifties? Doesn't matter. His desire to meet someone new and fall in love? Won't be fair to her, and to be frank, that desire ended with the diagnosis anyway.
It was over, he repeated to himself. In less than a year, he was going to die. Yes, he'd known something was wrong, and perhaps he'd even expected the doctor to deliver the news he had. But the memory of the doctor speaking the actual words began to recur in his mind, like an old-fashioned record skipping on a turntable. On the beach, he began to shake. He was scared and he was alone. Head lowered, he put his face into his hands and wondered why it had happened to him.
Yes. Why I wonder but, him? Steve was dying. My tears nearly bursted out.
Recalling back what a great dad he was. During Ronnie's first few days at her dad's place, she was so terribly mean to him. She stormed out of the house without greeting her dad in the morning, without even informing where was she going. And she came home past midnight. Never for once, her dad loses his temper in front of her, he was so gentle and nice.
God.
And when Ronnie said she hated her dad playing the piano (which was his life) and never wanted to see the piano ever again. Steve built a temporary wall in his living room, to cover up the piano. Gee!

Seventeen-year-old Veronica "Ronnie" Miller's life was turned upside down when her parents divorced and her father moved to Wrightsville Beah, North Carolina. Three years later, she remains alienated from her parents, particularly her father ... until her mother decides it would be in everyone's best interest if she and her brother spent the summer with him. Resentful and rebellious, Ronnie rejects her father's attempts to reach out to her and threatens to return to New York before the summer's ends. But soon Ronnie meets Will, the last person she thought she'd ever be attracted to, and finds herself falling for him, opening her up to the greatest happiness - and pain - that she has ever known.

He is so freaking cute.

First night at Wrightsville Beach. Meeting Marcus who plays fireballs, Blaze's boyfriend.

The loggerhead egg hatching. That's Jonah, Ronnie's fabulous little brother.
(this is one of the part of Jonah and Ronnie where I wouldn't stop giggling - it's pretty long, so skip it if you don't wanna read)
"Hey, Jonah!"
"Oh, hey, Ronnie!" "Can I ask you a question?"
"Sure."
"Do you want a cookie?"
"What?"
"A cookie. Like an Oreo. Do you want one?"
"No."
"How can you not want a cookie?"
"I just don't."
"Okay fine, let's say you did want a cookie. Let's say you were dying for a cookie and there were cookies in the cupboard. What would you do?"
"I'd eat a cookie?"
"Exactly. That's all I'm saying."
"What are you saying?"
"That if people want cookies, they should get a cookie. It's what people do."
"Let me guess. Dad won't let you have a cookie?"
"No. Even though I'm practically starving to death, he won't even consider it. He says I have to have a sandwich first."
"And you don't think that's fair."
"You just said you'd get a cookie if you wanted one. So why can't I? I'm not a little kid. I can make my own decisions."
"Hmm. I can see why this bothers you so much."
"It's not fair. If he wants a cookie, he can have one. If you want a cookie, you can have one. But if I want a cookie, the rules don't count. Like you said, it's not fair."
"So what are you going to do?"
"I'm going to eat a sandwich. Because I have to. Because the world isn't fair to ten-years-olds."

Ronnie and his dad in the work shop. Steve is working on the window for the church that burned that a few months ago.

Ronnie trying to finish up the song for her dad before his death, The Last Song.

Ronnie and her little brother, Jonah.

Will bringing Ronnie to the aquarium, where he works as a volunteer.

Will and Ronnie at his sister, Megan's wedding. Which in the end turn into a big mess, thanks to Marcus, the trouble-maker.

Miley Cyrus as Veronica Miller/Ronnie, Liam Hemsworth as Will Blakelee.
(this is one of the part of Will and Ronnie, teasing each other - they are the sweetest couple ever)
"Duck hunting?"
"Tell me you don't really kill ducks?" "Cute, sweet little feathered creatures, flying toward their little duck pond, just minding their own business? And you blow them out of the sky?"
"Only in the winter."
"When I was a little girl, my favourite stuffed animal was a duck. I had duck wallpaper. I had a hamster named Daffy. I love ducks."
"I do, too." "I love them fried, roasted, broiled with a side of sweet-and-sour sauce ---"
"That's terrible!"
Sometimes you have to be apart from the people you love, but that doesn't make you love them any less. Sometimes it makes you love them more. - Steve Miller, The Last Song Movie
Finishing two novels of Nicholas Sparks this holiday, both about summer romance. One that last, and the other doesn't. It makes me rewind back to few years ago, the time when I didn't have so many responsibilities to take care of, when there weren't so many problems to face, when it was just me and the boy I love so much.
I wake up in the morning and wander in my thoughts, it's like a dream. A beautiful dream. It's too special to be real sometimes I think. Maybe I'm too caught up with the fantasy in the novels. Hehe.
Oh well. (glanced up the clock) Holy, it's 2 already. Gotta run, dad is going to kill me if he found out I'm not in bed yet. Ciao!
If you're a friend, you're a special and unique one. If you're a lover, you're an irreplaceable and unforgettable one.
